In this interview with Smart Money with Alishia Seckam, Karl Kumbier explains what sets Capitec Business Banking apart from its competitors.
Kumbier is the executive for Business Banking at Capitec and has over two decades of experience in financial services.
He started as an article clerk at Price Waterhouse in 1992 and later joined Guardian Royal Exchange as a corporate internal auditor.
In 1999, Kumbier became the group financial manager at Control Instruments Group before joining the baking industry in 2001.
Kumbier worked in various roles at Standard Bank between 2001 and 2008, including being the director of business development and the provincial director for personal and business banking.
He took on the role of chief operating officer at Stanbic Bank Ghana before moving to Mercantile Bank, where he first served as a provincial executive director for retail and business, and then as the chief executive for over a decade.
Kumbier became Executive for Business Banking at Capitec in 2019 when Capitec bought Mercantile Bank.
